YOU MOVE ME started out as a publicity stunt that never really got off the ground, but i'm VERY grateful for all of your input. I DO want to move, and I DON'T have a clue about location. So now it's turned into a more practical thing where I'm hoping to be able to test a location next winter by living there a month or two. There's also the possiblity that I'll stay in MN and just do the snowbird thing. ick. i hate to even say that. it's conjuring up images of bingo and dentures.
Here is the list so far. I'm going to be weeding out some suggestions before I open up the voting.

Ve vould love to velcome you to dark voodlands of Pennsylvania. Muuuuaaahahahahaha.
I cast my vote in blud.
It'll be pretty interesting however this turns out. =D
Aaaah! Forgot to add mine to the other blog. Can I add here? I nominate Chapel Hill/Carborro/Hillsborough/Pittsboro, NC. These are all fairly close to one another and in a lovely, educated, artsy, and liberal part of central North Carolina. Unless you don't go in for that sort of thing. :P We lived there for seven years and loved every minute. (UNC-CH was my graduate-school alma mater)
I'd also add Tallahassee, FL, if you don't mind the behemoth of Florida State (my undergrad alma mater, btw).
You just gotta decide humidity-so-high-your-windows-are-permanently-fogged or low humidity.
(I lived in Georgia for seven years, and know what I'm talking about.)
I still say Virginia. :-) Of course there is that pesky little car tax matter....
Tanya
In order of personal preference:
Honolulu
California
Venice
count -- i mean, jason -- nothin' wrong with a little blud.
tribe: GARY! how did i forget GARY!!! it's christmas every day in gary. you can drive along the interstate and FIND FURNITURE!! beds and all kinds of treasures!!
mary louisa -- I've heard a lot of good things about the chapel hill area. i need to go there. i'll also add tallahassee to the list.
jer, i love humidity. :O
tanya -- any certain place in virginia?
Anne--I see the Chapel Hill addition to the list, but did you forget Tallahassee?
I like southern Indiana, but there are also some beautiful rolling hills around Lexington, Ky. :)
You can get ten acres and a 3800 square foot house in Gary for the same price as a nice bicycle.
Go with the bicycle.
snhrob, i'm probably going to scratch honolulu and venice because of cost. :(
mary louisa -- damn! could have sworn i had tallahassee on the list. i remember checking the spelling... it must have jumped off the screen.
poor gary, indiana. :D I wonder if it has one cool area where you don't need a bullet-proof vest....
erin, people do seem to like athens. i've heard good things about it.
lexington, kentucky....
i've actually been there. to a cattle show. :D
my son said the only way YOU MOVE ME would have been interesting is if people sent me to some hellish hole.
forget i said that.
snhrob
what the hell?
where did that come from??? wish we could edit these things!! i must have fallen asleep on the keyboard.
sorry rob!!!
And here I figured you'd given me a nickname.
The good thing is about humidity is it moisturizes your face. And your hair. And your clothes. And your food. And your dog. And the mold that soon becomes a household pet itself.
Lol. Sentient mold. There's a bad movie waiting to happen.
i'm imagining walking the mold with a pink dog halter and leash. :D
i'm surprised portland, oregon, hasn't been mentioned.
there's that little problem with rain and lack of sunlight, but it has lightrail. most liveable city?
maybe too big and growing too fast...
What's wrong with bingo?
