the beginning!!

my wonderful mortgage broker appealed the loan rejection, and my file was personally delivered to another group of decision makers. dave called this afternoon to tell me they signed off on it and everything is go again!!!!!!! i'm still trying to process the whole thing. it's like digging up a body after you've had the funeral. so now the last hurdle is the inspection, which will take place next week.

i'm still in shock.

Woo hoo! Supa-dupa-fabulosity! I hope it's not as messy as an exhumation, though. 'Cause that could be kinda gross.

Awesome, Anne!

(And I won't admit that I've been wondering about whether or not it has a full bath.)

Maybe God decided there's hope for you yet, Anne...

Super-cool!

I guess I'll have to take back all those swear words then.

Or, as the cheeky Zen Master always says,

"This too shall pass."

High-five!

thanks, everybody! i still can't believe it!!!!

heather -- lol! no full bath. it has a shower in the basement. you have to almost go outside to get there. it has one tiny, tiny, tiny bedroom, and a bathroom with a giant, giant, giant clawfoot tub. only three small, shallow closets, no shelves or cupboards anywhere. more like a loft, where you have to bring everything. how about an outhouse? it has an outhouse. haha!

Wow, congrats Anne! I was actually in Wisconsin this past week/weekend! My inlaws have a house in Lake Geneva and man is it pretty out there.

Thanks for the Linked In invite!

So you bought an old church?!

Where's the roller coaster going next, I wonder.

(Yay, Anne!)

Okay, I just got caught up. You DID buy an old church! Awesome!

how cool is that!? i had a friend that had live in a church and it was an amazing house. (and the outhouse may someday come in handy, you never know!)

thanks so much, everybody. you don't know how good the congrats make me feel!

i'll tell you more about it once the inspection is over and it's closer to a done deal.

jaye, a writers' camp has definitely been in the back of my mind with this place -- and you know i've been talking about that for a long time. it has an extra lot where a cottage could be built, and i could probably buy more ground. it already has a commercial kitchen. location is 80 miles from the twin cities and an international airport. but that part of this is just a pipe dream right now, but something that could possibly happen in the future.

80 miles in which direction from TC? Inquiring minds want to know!

Congrats, Anne. Glad you are going to have a place to call your own again. LaToya should love it.

Congratulations, Anne. One door closes and another opens. I'm happy for you.

If Stephen's bringing the Goat, I'll bring the Pole.

anne -- i think my son's dog, harry, will love it too. i imagine he'll be a frequent guest.

thanks, jeff!

daniel -- WTF????? oh my god, i have to spend more time on that page. that is wonderfully weird. and that way we wouldn't have to murder the goat, although i think stephen may have been looking forward to that.

Congrats! That place rocks. I have a friend near Sheboygan (I just love saying Sheboygan) that bought an old school house and renovated it. It turned out fabulously...

thanks, kelly!

jamie, yeah, sheboygan is such a strange name. :D

i can't say a lot about this place since this is a public blog, but it was renovated by an amazing architect, and it's something he's used in his portfolio over the years. it's more form than function, so figuring out how to use it as living space will be a bit of a challenge -- but not a huge one. i don't need a traditional space and don't want one.

Anne, I stumbled upon Goat On A Pole a while ago, and out of all the weirdo sites I've come across, I often think of it.

Anything for a smile, I say.
