DEMOLITION
a new issue of DEMOLITION is online.

i haven't read all of it yet, but i really enjoyed Russel McLean's and Patricia Abbott's stories.

MUGSHOT STORIES

stephen blackmoore is doing something wonderfully screwy over at L.A. Noir. He's asking for short stories that take their inspiration from mugshots.

email stephen your mugshot story, 500 words or less, and he'll post it on L.A. Noir throughout the remainder of November.

L.A. Noir

Every mugshot tells a story.

I wonder if you get extra credit for using your own.

I love that mugshot idea. Genius.

sandra, i agree. i think something like this would make a great anthology.

You really have to thank Mr. Bagley for this one. He suggested it. I just threw it up there.

Anne, I was thinking much the same thing about an anthology. I just have no idea how to make something like that happen.

Most of my ideas suck, but every now and then...

I like the concept. I'm sure there are and will be some interesting stories come from this.

i'm usually not big on anthologies, but i'd buy a mugshot anthology. i love the touch of non-fiction the photo brings. somebody was just telling me his anthology paid almost nothing. just a really low flat fee. i couldn't see doing it for that.

This is way fun! And my word verification is beyond impossible, as if a Welsh linguist had a head-on collision with a box of Cyrillic type slugs.

*refresh*

There, that's better.

I actually did that once with a book I was writing. I'd been visiting Yuma Territorial Prison and they had photos of the inmates at various times. And one of them just caught my eye. I kept coming back to him.

Turns out he was one of the very few who ever escaped Yuma and didn't get caught! I found the newspaper articles detailing the trial that got him in there in the first place (for murder). But I still don't know what happened to him. I'd love to turn it into a story!

i can't quit thinking about the anthology....

Okay, I'm drawing a blank on mugshot #2. Who is that?

anne frasier said...

heather, it's lenny bruce. the accompanying text said he was arrested for soliciting funds for a leper colony.

Acdtually I did get food poisoning or somethihg equally horrid, but I rose from my deathbed to see you liked my story in Demolition and that cheered me right up. Thanks much!

patti! oh no!!

see, that's why thanksgiving is bad, bad, bad!!

it's either food poisoning or the flu. not good choices.
