on display with nothin' to say

blogging:

The thing that's been really frustrating is that I can't talk about what I want to talk about. Shortly after starting this blog, I found my locked lips so frustrating that I started another semi-anonymous blog where I vented and talked about my personal experiences in publishing. A fellow writer ended up reporting me and the blog...to somebody. After that experience, I pulled the plug on my "secret" blog, but wow -- I would have had some interesting and unbelievable stuff to post there.

Almost every day I think of something I want to blog about, and almost every day I think I'd better not say that. Even topics that on the surface seem fairly harmless. So anyway, rather than go on and on about me and my boring life, I'm going to close my blog at the end of this year. It might not be a permanent close. I'm going to wait and see if I feel like opening it again in the spring or summer.

Oh man. I love your blog, but I understand.

I remove a posting at least once a week. Sometimes, like this week, someone caught me and responded before I could get it down. If you can't rant on your own blog--well, you know.

thanks, sandra. i've really appreciated all of your contributions, that's for sure.

patti, i'm so glad to hear you say that about deleting stuff! i thought i was the only one. i keep feeling that i shouldn't have posted this one, but damn. so frustrating!! i end up feeling caught between the mundane and saying something that has some meaning without being damaging. not sure that place exists.

I've loved your blog, too.

This sucks.

I guess I'll no longer be a resident in your attic. I hope I can find somewhere else to live that's as cool and creepy as your place. :(

Will you stay on MySpace?

You'll be missed.

My problem is probably that I don't delete stuff. :(

Oh great. Now it's going to look like I'm copying you. :-p

Famous authors always steal my thunder.

I'll forgive you, though, if you name one of your new mice after me.

Bleh. More good news (that was sarcasm, in case you missed it).

On the one hand, I get it. On the other, much more selfish one, I'm not happy about it. At all. *sniff*

Oh, Anne, I'll miss your blog. I always look forward to your posts. I understand, though. My blog is anonymous and I still feel there are things I can't put up sometimes.

I do hope we'll get to see pictures of the new place before you go.

Oh, what a bummer! Will you be around Crimespace? I hate the idea of not staying current with what's going on with you (even if it's just a fraction of your life).

I do understand, though - I struggle with coming up with things to write because, well, my mother reads my blog. Seriously, it's easier to keep silent than deal with the various, inconsistent, and always maddening ways she takes things. Sounds like your publishing house? :)

Will miss your original mind.I have never found you "boring."

"A fellow writer ended up reporting me"

The. Bitch.

Okay, I don't like this. It makes me sad. That's the reason you don't see my grinning little face in the upper right-hand corner of this comment.
I understand your reasoning and respect your decision, but dadgummit, I'm going to miss your blog, Anne.
I'm hoping it's only temporary, and you'll be back soon. :)

aww, now if feel bad!!! :O

heather, i'll still be on myspace. myspace is too much fun to quit. i like that it requires zero time and energy, but if i feel like going there i can. and you leave the funniest damn pictures. i love them!! the quack whore is so cute. :D

keep in touch, stephen. i want to know what's going on with zombie joe!

sandra, i think that means you aren't constantly second guessing yourself the way i am!

Sandra Ruttan said...

No, I just seem very comfortable living with regret. ;)

bekbek:
famous. snort. it's probably tacky of me to admit that i always wanted to be famous, but after 20 years i know that's not going to happen.

i'll definitely name a mouse after you. :D

angie: i'll still stop by your blog!

kaycie, i'm closing on the new place on Wednesday -- moving this week and next, so i will be telling you about it! and probably posting some pics. i don't think i'll have internet until November 27 though.

christa: lol! the mother thing would be really tough! and yeah, unfortunately it's just easier to keep silent. and weighing all the ways different people might take things requires a lot of energy.

anne frasier said...

bethany, thanks so much! i have the feeling this is going to be more like a six month hiatus. the other weird thing that i probably shouldn't even mention is that if i sell my creative nonfiction book it most likely won't be published under anne frasier.

bernita, aww, thanks. i know you've visited my blog almost since the beginning. big hug! and about that other thing -- most writers are supportive of their brothers in arms, but every house has a tonya harding.

anne frasier said...

jeff, i'm hoping it's temporary too. i think it will be good to get away from it for several months, then step back and see if i want to dive in again. or if i want to shake it up somehow.

sandra: LOL! i love that!!

Anne,

I'm truly disappointed. But I know how you feel. You've got a lot to say and you just can't say it. Been there, girlfriend. I hope you change your mind though. As far as I'm concerned, the person who reported you is in the same smelly craphouse as that BOOKTRAILER lady.

MEGA HUGS!

cindy said...

me too, sorry it's going away...i'll send you a 'hey' every so often on myspace. maybe 'madame s' will blog again? anyway, funny pic too...how does one get into that postion, and hopefully, it was his choice? lol! (and what if he has to go to the bathroom?!)

anne frasier said...

tanya, it's been a blast, that's for sure. the blog crawl was definitely the high point as far as fun goes. i can say i only had one real weirdass that i had to deal with over the span of my blog. i think this guy left one comment -- he mainly just sent creepy emails.

cinderelly -- LOL! yeah, i love that pic. and i can't believe i never wondered how he went to the bathroom. :D it would take a long time just to get him down.

Reminds me of that song, "We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun...." Then, the guy proceeds to say goodbye to everyone before he dies.

I can't listen to that song.

Few blogs reach a kind of zen or coherent life of their own. Yours did. You'll be missed.

Bummer. I get why you want to be done for a time with blogging, but we'll miss you.

Jaye Wells said...

Oh no. Don't go away! I don't find anything boring about this blog. But if your heart isn't in it then it's probably best to take a break. You'll be missed.

anne frasier said...

jason, OMG. now i can't get that song out of my head! heh! thanks for the kind words. it HAS been fun!!

word nerd -- thanks!

jaye, i've gotten oddly uncomfortable talking so much about myself! i think it's because i'm posting much less about writing, so i've lost that balance.

Spy Scribbler said...

Oh gosh, these past few weeks, I've been not talking about everything on my mind. But because I'm so stressed out and worried and everything, I feel my blog entries are reeking of negativity, anyway.

Anonymous said...

spy -- i know just what you're talking about! i hope things settle down for you soon.

vanessa jaye said...

Hey, Anne, not sure if you're on moderation, or if blogger screwed up, but I did leave a comment earlier it just hasn't shown up.

I hope you change your mind. I'm more a lurker than a poster here, but I've always enjoyed dropping by. Also sorry that a bully spoiled all the fun over on the downward blog. I really enjoyed that one too for the short time it was up.

Tami Klockau said...

Awww, I'm going to miss your blog Anne! I always try and get caught up when I get a second, even if I turned into a lurker. Totally understand though! I'm in the catagory of my mother reading my blog.

Hope to see the blog back up in a few months!

anne frasier said...

vanessa, must have been blogger screwing up. what's the fun of moderating? heh! yeah, downward was fun while it lasted.

tami, thanks! we'll see what happens!
