i know everybody is getting tired of bouchercon stuff, but i have to post these.

i didn't bring my camera, ipod, or computer. could i live without them? yes, but barely. thank god other people brought cameras and actually used them. here are some of my favorite pics of some of my favorite people.

here i am with the sweet and ornery sandra ruttan. we look a little lit, don't we?

sandra's blog

bill cameron -- my mentee! what a charming, funny, delightful guy!! it's hard to be in a bitchy mood when bill's around.

i have to admit to meeting russel mclean of the sexy scottish accent just minutes before this photo was taken.
russel's blog

we bonded over our mutual misery over the crappy edgewater hotel showers.

the other gentleman is tribe! i've been a fan of his for a long time. if you haven't read any of tribe's stuff, check out flashing in the gutters. it's WONDERFUL. link on the left.

Tribe in a suit? Something seems wrong about that.

I REALLY like your hair!

kelly, it's so strange to have a mental picture of people before meeting them. and even though i'd seen photos of a lot of writers before the conference, it didn't always help because some people don't look like their photos. and some look EXACTLY like their photo.

daniel, after i posted i thought i should have mentioned tribe's suit! we were all commenting on it -- he was dressed up for the awards ceremony.

bernita, thanks. :) i don't know what's going on with that curl in the middle of my forehead. :D the humidity had to have been close to 100% most days.

Tribe was very handsome. I was much smitten with him!

anne frasier said...

bill, he was definitely smit-worthy.

will joe konrath read your comment?
will it break his heart?

this could be big.

Kelly (Lynn) Parra said...

It's not just the suit that I find interesting about Mr. tribe. It's that he's smiling! Looking snazzy, tribe. =D

kelly: LOL! you don't know the half of it. he'd actually been BLEEDING right before that was taken. he put a napkin to his neck wound, pulled it away, and we all gasped -- image of jesus. right there in blood on the white napkin.

Bill Cameron said...

Joe will just have to understand. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Bill Cameron said...

I have a picture of that napkin!

"The heart wants what the heart wants."

LOL!

Stephen Blackmoore said...

Huh. I always figured if Tribe had blood on him it'd be somebody else's.

anne frasier said...

heh!!!

Great photos Anne. Thanks for sharing! Man, tribe sure does look snazzy!

You DO look a little lit. hehe! I hope you didn't swing out of there to go throw rolls of toilet paper in trees.

And a picture of Tribe too! Very cool.

your welcome, tami!
jason, no alcohol consumed by me. i don't think sandra was drinking either, but i kinda felt like a little kid who needed a nap but was too excited to sleep.

Anne, you have a wonderful smile.

Annne

I don't know if you'll get fifteen variations on this comment, because I managed to tick off blogger but anyway...

bless you for taking the only photo at B'Con where I look vaguely human. And my accent is blushing with the compliment, although still stinging from Tribe calling me "loud and fast" which was allegedly about my accent, too.

And I do hope you kicked the Edgewater's butt about those showers... I tried but they didn't want to listen to me when I tried to explain my shower was acting more like a bidet than anything else...

Sandra Ruttan said...

Aw Russel, the one on my blog with you in the cheesehead thing is a good photo. ;)

Anne, yeah, we do look a bit buzzed there! Wowzers! I still haven't stopped posting and I haven't apologized yet. I have more photos for the weekend!

anne frasier said...

rob, i'm blushing! thank you! but i do recall sandra taking a bunch of pictures, then asking if i could quit doing that thing with my mouth. so i have the feeling there are some horrid photos on her camera or computer.

russel, i swiped that group picture from julia buckley's site. she gets total credit for it.

i talked the edgewater into giving me a 20.00 a night discount. big whoop. or would that be wup?

sandra, i agree about the cheesehead photo. that was a beauty. :)

Russel said...

Still better than I managed with Edgewater... swines!

Ahem... not that I'm bitter... But as John pointed out maybe I never actually found the shower and was using the bidet all along...

The Cheesehead is currently in the post and heading my way... I am about to change day jobs and plan on wearing it for the last day of my current one. I think its very stylish.

"But as John pointed out maybe I never actually found the shower and was using the bidet all along..."

oh my god! that's funny as hell!

Those are nice pictures, Anne.

wish you could have been there, jeff!

great pics, Anne. Totally understand about leaving the writer at home. I wished I could have when I went to London two weeks ago. Argh. I had to bring her -- and clothes for her (double argh) -- and not stick my foot in my mouth for an entire day and a half. Talk about stress. The rest of the trip was brilliant/wonderful/fantastic.

And I actually like the authors and even the publisher I saw. So what's the problem? The "organized" bit, I think. Writing is solitary. This social stuff is so not. And when I see these people and can just relax with them it's fine. But "on parade" it's not. So yes, stress city. At least no panels where I went.

Glad you survived!

Sandra Ruttan said...

And Anne? No wacky photos of you lingering. Nothing to worry about (until the cheque bounces).

anne frasier said...

hi anne! sounds like you had a good time even if you had to bring your well-behaved twin and her well-behaved clothes. does that make us the evil ones? i think it does!!!

sandra, i just got back from the bank. everything is under control. *pant*

Mindy Tarquini said...

Just tiptoeing in. I'm not really here. I'm finishing my work. Great photos. And it's so cool to see Tribe.

mg, thanks for stopping by. i know you're busy right now!
