photos from my tuonela trip

as some of you know, i have health issues that make it hard for me to drive a long distance. this bus rode like a dream.

i was pleasantly surprised to find that tuonela now has an internet cafe. and truly some of the best scones i've ever eaten.

unfortunately a couple of homicides occurred while i was in town. the tuonela press isn't online, so i scanned the front page.

A couple of homicides? While you were in town? From my research there haven't been any murders for 100 years since before your arrival in town and none since you left...

I hope you checked out the bakery run by the Sisters of Tuonela - Holy Cannoli - Take a left at Old Tuonela, then hang on with both hands. Tell 'em Lala sent you.

ah, that's what tuonela tourism would LIKE visitors to think. nobody wants to feel they can't walk alone after dark.

as far as the bakery goes -- i'll check it out!! i hear they've been baking bread made with holy water.

Oh the Sisters' bread is the best! The holy water adds a certain je ne sais quoi. Try the garlic herb. Get there early. It's especially popular when nights get longer.

Now I'm scared.

I just wanted to say that I love scones too...

Please don't kill me. ;)

Isn't that bakery where the old tea shop used to be? That was such a shame when it closed. Now it's next to impossible to get a decent cup of tea in Tuonela.

On my day trip to Tuonela while I was in Wisconsin for B'Con, these high school kids kept encouraging me to stay. Apparently things really light up after dark. What were they talking about?

bill, i'm so glad you didn't allow the sweet promise of a game of Twister to tempt you. wow. when they told you they needed some new blood, they really meant new blood.

*Shakes head in disbelief*

Those darn writerly people. Always crackin' wise about the undead. Have a little respect, people! It ain't easy bein' a cheesy wannabe creature of the night. Just ask those poor misunderstood young folks - the ones who can't seem to afford shoe laces...

:o)

Is it true the blood bank in Tuonela has its own private security guard? :)
