thanks, heather!! and it's not you. myspace design is like being in a funhouse. took me forever -- weeks! -- to find simple things like log-in buttons. it's so visually busy, but text is also in weird places. kelly, you're site is so nice! and you're always doing something to it! that's where i found the slide show link. i already had my images on flickr, but i couldn't seem to use the same code for myspace. but the pictures transferred easily.
patti, i didn't go to bed last night until 3:00. :D and damn why do they have interesting stuff on television at that time? i watched public television for another hour. at one point i thought i should just stay up.
the hardest thing for me was just trying to figure out how things worked. a lot of trial and error and starting over. if you can find the right generator it's fairly easy, but still extremely time consuming. i'm not happy with the tiled background image. i don't know how that happened -- rather than just one solid image. but i don't think i'm going to start over!
patti, i forgot to say that i'm going antsy and i can't sleep. i turned in a manuscript 5 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. i have a new editor, so i don't know if that's unusual or not. for most editors it's not unusual, but i also know there was quite a bit of concern over getting this book into production on time because i asked for 6 months to write it rather than 4. hopefully i'll know something in another week or so.
i'm not sure what their production schedule is. for some houses it's 8 months, others 10 or 12. it goes into production after the manuscript has been revised and the revision accepted. the book is scheduled for october, so this is going to be close unless it's been moved to a new slot.
angie, haha! i resisted doing much over there for a looongg time. it seemed much more problematic than blogger and used to make my computer crash. don't think that's the case anymore. right now it seems pretty stable. i'm also thinking it might somewhat replace a website. not completely, but my website needs to be retired or revamped.

Anne, you look wicked young for 96. What's your secret? (and please don't say you drink the blood of virgins because I don't actually know any)
The pimped up page is totally boss ;)
Sweet page!
Will you be my friend? I only have 11 friends, and I think one of them is Tom... :D
Oh dear God, NO Anne! Say it isn't so!
Conformist.
alex, thanks! my secret is a vodka enema twice daily.
s.w.: i remember for weeks i had one FRIENDS. they don't even have singular. pretty funny. send me a friend request!
sandra: LOL! all the while i kept thinking how horrified you were going to be. :D
it happened by total acccident. i swear. i was looking for some myspace info, and came across a layout generator. too much fun.
I love the background you chose. The layout looks great.
Humiliating as it is to admit, I am MySpace challenged. I can't figure it out for the life of me.
I love it! It's awesome!! Sorry, I've been pimpin' my page since I started. It's freaking addicting. heh
How much work that must have taken!!
Do you ever sleep?
thanks, heather!!

All you need now are some fuzzy dice. :D
Holy crap! Those MySpace folks make me look downright pedestrian. That is one tricked-out page.
jason, i'm on that. :D

i'm afraid i'm addicted to the pimping.
Sigh.
