Thanks for posting this list! It's hard to keep up with everything in the crime fiction community.

Lots to add to my reading list there, thanks! Anyone seen Match Point? I guess I didn't realise until today that it is a thriller.

One nitpicky point--only one woman nominated? :D Sheesh, I better get cracking on my own thriller ms.

Thanks, Anne. I'm gonna copy this and look all these babies up on Amazon to spy the reviews.

msmstry, thanks for stopping by. :)

alex, i didn't realize match point was a thriller either!
i can't comment too much on the awards because i'm a judge in the best novel category, but i wish we'd been able to get some women in there. are there any? not sure about some names. there weren't all that many entries from women, so ladies get cracking!

and there were a lot of great books that didn't make the list. not sure i can discuss them. probably not, at least not yet.

tanya, there are several first novels and paperbacks i'm going to have to look up.

publishers had to enter the books, so it's possible that some favorite books simply weren't entered.

I haven't read that many books on this list. Looks like I have some catching up to do. :)

Exciting. Did you have to read all the entries for the contest all the way through?

I can't imagine having to read the long list, or even the short list.

My word verification is weird today. It makes me want to get my lawnmower out and kill my mother-in-law...lol.

jeff, you'll probably want to get a few of them read before thrillerfest -- where the winners will be announced.

emeraldcite, i need to find out how much of this i can discuss. i kept thinking i could talk about the process once the nominees were announced, but now i'm thinking we aren't supposed to reveal how this all played out. damn. because i love to blab. i'll have to see what questions can be answered. i can probably say that our category had around 150 entries.

apparently we have a list of submissions here:

i want to point out that a large number of excellent books on that list were ineligible due to ORIGINAL pub date.

Match Point is a wonderful, wonderful movie. Should not be missed. I love Woody Allen, but this is something completely unexpected from him. Glad to see it nominated.

Syriana, too. Another wonderful movie.

Great nomination list. I don't usually think in terms of gender when I read, so the absence of women writers didn't hit me until it was mentioned...

rob, i remember your raving about match point. i can't wait to see it. I don't think in terms of gender when I read either. good point.
