tagged! the blogger's interview

1. When did you first start blogging and why?

I think I started blogging in April of 2005. I came into it like an idiot on roller skates. The ONLY reason I started blogging was because my editor had been after me to start a blog for a long time. Maybe a year or two. I had ZERO interest in it. I didn't read blogs, I didn't GET blogs, I didn't want to get blogs, and I REALLY wasn't interested in putting my thoughts out there for people to read.

Now I'm a blog addict. Yes, it's true.

2. What don't you talk about?

There's nothing I don't talk about. Somebody taser me so I'll shut up. I'm an all or nothing person. My big thing is that I blab about the downside of the writing business. This pisses off both published and unpublished people. ((I'm hoping only a small percentage, but you never know.) Published because they don't want me to rock the boat, and I think some don't want the writer mystique destroyed. I think some unpublished people find me annoying because they would love to be in my shoes no matter what kind of crap they have to put up with. They would gladly trade places with me. I completely understand that.

3. Are you and your blogging persona the same person?

I think they are pretty much the same. Although I can be shy. That probably doesn't come across. And I don't talk with nearly as many of these: !!!!!!!!!! But I do talk with them!

4. How do you use blogging to build friendships?

Since I came into this with absolutely zero expectations and 100% stupidity, I didn't expect the wonderful community I've stumbled upon. That's where the addiction comes from. Oh, I have to see what this person is doing. I haven't visited Kelly today. I ENJOY it. Way too much!!

5. How would you describe your writing style?

Informal as hell.

I'm not going to tag anybody, but join in if you feel like it. This was a fun meme. Thanks, Kelly!

Cool, Anne, thanks for playing! I love your honesty on your blog! As writers we need to know both the good and the bad. No wearing those rose colored glasses coming into this industry, you know?

And lol! I could buy stock in blogging with these: !!!!!! =D

Your blogging style has always been a fascination for me. I absolutely never know what I'm going to see here. Anything goes. With an artist twirl. I love that!

kelly: !!!! :D

jason: anything goes is right. early on i realized i wouldn't be able to stick with a theme. i have structure with my books, and this gives me the chance to focus on whatever glitter has my attention at the moment.

I have blogger ADD too. I find it hard to come up with interesting writing topics every day. Plus it's nice to keep people guessing.

jaye: blogger ADD. exactly! and i don't want to get bored with my own blog.

Blogger ADD, heh. I got that.

I've been trying to do a post today answering the questions, but Blogger is being mean to me, so I am thinking it will have to be tomorrow.

As for tasering, when I volunteered to be tasered in a citizens police academy class, I found myself quite capable of vocalizing through the process, though typing was pretty much out. One of my classmates suggested the officer who zapped me should have aimed for my throat.

anne frasier said...

hah! you could vocalize through it? well that won't do me any good then.
and i'll bet you weren't saying, Stop, that tickles.

I want to know why my characters are addicted to blogging. They talk lots more frankly there than they do when we "get serious" and start working on the book. Maybe it's like they feel they're among friends when they blog and they worry about being 'acceptable' when we're in book mode??? Dunno. Weird though. And, like Jason, I love your blog, Anne, because I never know what I'm going to find here.

anne, i've experienced that with my characters. one of them started a blog a year ago, and i had a blast with it until i realized none of it would really translate to the page. it's a strange thing.

i still might unveil it fall 2007 when that book comes out.
