a little bird told me

that my book has been spotted in chain stores.

publishers pay bookstores to shelve books on a specific date, but some stores put them out early. the release date is orchestrated so the largest amount of sales will occur within a very small timeframe and hopefully get the book on a list. i don't think early sales will make much of a difference in my case.
the photo? no relevance. i just liked it.

Very cool! Ugh, I can't wait to get my copy. I know, I've already read it but I need the final packaging too. =D

That's fantastic. Get those copies sold!

kelly, it's always weird to see the final version!

i should mention that the PI spotting took place at a barnes and noble in illinois.

stephen, i agree! it's probably a good thing that stores are shelving them before the holiday weekend.

Hmm, I'll have to run over to my local Barnes and Noble and see if it's out here as well. Well, if not I'll be making another trip out on the 5th. :)

The photo is cool - and I think that you're right, a few days is neither here nor there, unless you're Dennis Lehane and want to top the bestseller list. But that means people don't have to wait as long to buy your book Anne! Wahoo!

tami, let me know if they had it!

jude, thanks!

sandra, i'd love to know the story behind the photo. i love the window with the bare trees.

Hey, Anne. I was looking for your older books at B&N the other day and couldn't find them. Of course, the four year old I had running around like a freak kept me from asking any of the clerks. Do you know what section you're in?

anne frasier said...

if they have any, they're usually in the fiction section. especially at a B & N. sometimes borders will have them in the mystery section.

most stores seem to keep hush on the shelf, but the other titles are hit and miss.

At Walgreens last night.

Clerk: "Will this be all?"
Me: "Yes, just the croquet set."
Clerk: "Comes to $24.95."
Me: "Oh, wait, do you have Pale Immortal?"
Clerk: "Pale who?"
Me: "Never mind."

I can't make heads or tails of that photo, but I like it. :)

jeff, you got the croquet set. that's the important thing.

pale who -- hah!

Looks like a 60's version of a sunlamp. George Hamilton fell asleep on the other side.

Re Pale Immortal, Christmas came a little early this year. :D

My local bookstore (a UBS that also sells new stuff) had it today, so I confess I grabbed it.
