Burlington is a beautiful, dark town built on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi. Pale Immortal's Tuonela

Have a great trip - and very cool re. P.I. making pick of the week. I think I'm still recovering from Tuesday's pimp party...
I know I'm still recovering! Have a great trip and congrats on the pick of the week. Very cool pic!
Sell, sell, sell. Make lots of money.
Have a great time in Iowa.
I didn't know you were also an ex-Iowa girl.
Have fun. Congrats on the pick!
There was a party? *gg*
WTG on pick of the week! And have a safe, relaxing trip. It is well-deserved.
I love "Strange Fruit"... and my husband uses it in his history classes. He really likes to find pieces of culture like that, which have been obscured by timelines and rote memorization. Just really helps make the subjects relevant to his kids.
Have a wonderful time, Anne! We'll behave while you're gone.

*pssst! Is she gone? Where does she keep the liquor?
Okay, this might not be the place to ask, but... what is the perfect Billy Holiday album? Preferably with this song?
You don't think I bought into the "wish list" thing on my blog for no reason, did you? I gotta hint to my fambly! And shock of all shocks... the jazz is what I've been missing.
Someone help an anonymous girl out...
bekbek
Bek, DH found the song on The Commodore Master Takes - I see it on Amazon. Happy hinting! :)
Congrats and safe trip! You deserve the mention for the book Anne!
Burlington? Hey there, Homey, I live just up the river in Dubuque! Can't wait to read the book. Are you stoppping here for a signing?
thanks so much, everybody!
bekbek, i wondered that myself. about billy holiday. she's done a lot of stuff i love, but i'm never sure of titles and time periods.
christa, using strange fruit in history class - what a fantastic idea.
bailey and jason: :D
sam, yep, good ol' burlington. at one point the population was about 38,000. now it's about 22,000. and dropping. i won't be going to dubuque. :( love dubuque, though. a bunch of us gals sometimes meet there and stay at the hancock house. we're supposed to be writing, but it usually turns into... well, would it surprise you if i said a party? :D
beautiful road...
i rode down that yesterday. crookedest street in the world according to guinness. i think lombard street in san fran is actually second.
