Anne, I have blogged your book. No drinking for me today--driving the kids to run errands and all-- and precious little time to blog crawl until this evening, but will later try to catch up to everyone else, or at least have some fun gawking at the passed out revelers.

And ditto my applause at finding the Smith's ref as I sipped my first caffeine. Them's was the days...

Hi Anne. I picked up your book last night at the Barnes & Noble (or B. Dalton, I forget which one) at MOA last night. I got about 90 pages in while my daughter did some last minute school clothes shopping. Great character developments so far. I find myself interested in the futures of many of the characters - Graham, Evan, Rachel, as well as some of the lesser characters. Although I'm not really into horror-fantasy (I don't really believe in vampires), I find the read realistic, and intriguing so far. You have a teenage son, right? Was he any assistance in writing from Graham's perspective? I'm just wondering because you make him seem so real.

Good Job!

waldo: what? gasp. choke. soon you'll be telling us you don't believe in the easter bunny! ;) thanks for the kind words about the characters in PI. my goal with the story was to make it as real as possible, which seems strange when you think about the plot, but that was what i was really striving for. as far as teenagers -- that's just always been my favorite age to write. i seem to understand that age better than any other -- or at least i think i do. and...ahem. my own kids haven't seen sixteen for a while.

anne frasier said...

on bekbek's blog, she mentioned something about a bubble-blowing event which was actually a flash mob. i'd never thought about project pimp squad seeming a bit like a flash mob, but it does. kind of an internet flash mob. and i think the pimp/whore element takes it to that silly level that makes it fun.

Anonymous said...

Anne, you must be getting pretty close to the 100 blog mark. I know I've posted to more blogs than ever in a single day... and there were some that I regularly visit who have a post up but who haven't stopped by and made a comment, I just can't remember which ones, right now. Too many jello shooters might account for that though... nah, can't have too many jello shooters.... lol

anne frasier said...

Hey Anne, do you know how many hits the video had last night and how many it has today? Maybe you can at least tell how many people watched the video today if you can't tell how many people blogged.

Hmm, this is strange. It won't let me post the comment (and of course if you are reading this it did. LOL)

stephen, thanks. i'll definitely do that!!

anne frasier said...

bailey, yeah she had some great comments about edge of your seat and stuff. pretty funny. that's too bad because i know she really wanted to be in on the crawl.

anne frasier said...

i want to apologize for not replying to the early pimps who left the first comments. i visited all the blogs, then by the time i got back here blogger was being an ass. i couldn't stuff any more candy in my bra or mouth, so i had to let some of it go on by. :(

we're all family here.

vanessa jaye said...

My post went up 1:15 in the morning. lol.

Anne, for all those beta blogs, you can either do 2 things:

1.Choose 'other' instead of your default blogger identity, then fill in the fields with your usual info.

2. I think someone said you can still go with your default if you preview your message first.

Bailey Stewart said...

Since Blogger has had some problems too, I think "something" must be bogging down the blogging - overload?! LOL

Helen Brenna said...

Okay, I have to know. Did I miss the nudity while I was working all day?

Bailey Stewart said...

You're Theresa Weir? I've seen those - I'll have to pick one up and check it out. *gg* The information I'm learning on this crawl. LOL

anne frasier said...

jaye, thanks for the tip. i'll try that.

bailey, what are you trying to say? ;)

helen, blogger was being as ass for most of the day so it put a damper on our nudity. but i'll have a lampshade on my head soon.

bailey revisited: LOL! no secrets here!

Helen Brenna said...

Take a picture, Theresa, er Anne!

Dear Anne,

Just wanted to let you know that I picked up PALE IMMORTAL at my local Barnes & Noble today. Had to ask for it, as it hadn't been shelved yet. Hopefully my request will help get the book out of the boxes today!

Good luck with the release. I think the story sounds fabulous!

emeraldcite said...

Tami Klockau said...

okay, weird observation. Anne, did you realize that out of your 5 covers to the left there that 3 of them have half a face in the top half? I'm sure you have, but i JUST realized.

Anonymous said...

Yup, darn Beta. :)

anne frasier said...

jaye, that worked!

helen, oh, that's a scary thought.

lara, thanks for giving the bookseller a nudge! and nice blog.

emeradcite, i figured out how to do that a couple of months ago when you told me about it, but then i forgot. i know it's something simple.

tami, the idea had been to have faces or patial faces on all the covers. my idea for pale immortal was a close up of a face, with a tombstone reflected in a pair of glasses. i always imagined a blue cover too. weird how i always think of the color. i'm not sure why they went with something different for the two covers. those didn't sell as well, i know that. play dead is an interesting cover, but i don't think it tells a story and i don't think it attracted browsers.

Chasing Inspriation said...

I picked up Pale Immortal at the grocery store on Friday and loved it! And thought to myself how lucky I was to pick it up early. Hehehe.

I'm posting my interview with Anne TONIGHT at www.ridingwiththetopdown.blogspot.com. You don't want to miss this humble pimp's contribution to the cause of getting PALE IMMORTAL on the USAT list and sending it into multiple printings. I've read the book, folks. It's reallyreallyreally good.

Bill Cameron said...

Oy, is nothing ever easy?

I like to buy my books from my local mystery bookstore. They're small and friendly and cool. I mentione Pale Immortal when I was in last week and they said they'd make sure they got it in. Alas, no. Something got messed up with the order, so probably next Tuesday.

Like I'm going to wait that long.

But that was okay, because Powell's on Hawthorne was right up the street, and I knew they would have it. Except they didn't.

Now, to be fair, they do have it. Four at the Beaverton store and two at the main store downtown. And 264 in the warehouse. They could have one at the Hawthorne store by tomorrow if I wanted to wait. But I'm not. I'm going downtown this evening anyway, so I'll be stopping at Powell's to pick it up.

Now watch. I'll get there and the two copies will be gone. Which will be good, but here's my question. Why on earth would one of the largest bookstores in the known universe bring in only two copies, when a branch store gets four? Unfortunately, I can't drive to the Beaverton store, so if downtown is out, I will have to ask them to bring one over from the warehouse to the Hawthorne store. Which could mean THURSDAY!

Aiieeeeeee!

Bailey Stewart said...

Ahem, I'm giving one away next week on my blog.

Yeah, my pre-order from Amazon came today.

Jaye Wells said...

I bought Pale Immortal today at a Borders Express. With all the jello shots I had to have the four-year-old drive.

Tami Klockau said...

Holy smokes bill! I hope I don't run into this problem!

Not to sound ignorant, but I've always wondered. Is Powell's like a Barnes & Noble/Borders/Pages? We don't have them out here (on the west coast) that I've seen.

Bill Cameron said...

Powell's is a giant independent bookstore with half-a-dozen branches around the Portland area. In the last few years they've developed a pretty strong web presence as well. It's basically a reader's paradise. The main store downtown is the size of a city, multi-floored. You need a map to find your way around. Great place.

anne frasier said...

naomi -- thank you so much!!!! hug!

kathleen, thanks again for the interview! you asked some great questions.

bill -- aiieeeee! i haven't heard that in years! :D and i know what you mean about wanting to support the independents, but it does seem that things sometimes don't go as smoothly for them.

bailey, that's good to hear about the pre-order. i wondered how they worked that. right on the 5th. wow.

jaye: LOL! that was a great movie in my head.

tami: powells... i wonder if they're just located in oregon and washington? my sister-in-law raves about them.

anne frasier said...

bill, that's the store my sister-in-law is always talking about. she loves portland and powell's. (travels there a lot for work.)

Tami Klockau said...

Wow, powell's sounds awesome. There's nothing like that down here in So Cal. I've seen a lot of people linked to their online store. I'll have to check it out. Thanks Bill.

Chasing Inspriation said...

Tami Klockau said...

It was their spot! I was all ready to pimp it up to the front tables but didn't even need to! It was on the "New Paperback Arrivals" table. Not only that, but it looked like several were gone. Most of the books around it were stacked 3-4 books higher than PI, so I'm guessing that those sold.
