good news and bad news

i'll start with the bad:

the Pale Immortal sequel has been moved from October 2007 to January 2008. I know it's only three additional months, but I was already concerned about readers having to wait until October for a sequel. The October date had always been tentative, but last I knew there was talk of moving the book to August or September. the weird thing about release dates is that i've never been informed when there's been a change. i always have to ask. it's probably because the dates are always shifting. the january date isn't locked in yet, so i could end up being bumped again.

the good news is that my new editor just finished reading the sequel and really likes it. in other good news -- I don't have much to do in the way of an edit. Add a couple of scenes and polish.

But I'm in the mood for Anne NOW. Don't fret. I still want to read the sequel.

I just finished Play Dead and loved it. You did a super job creating an atmosphere that the reader could almost breathe.

(I hope that made sense.)

That should read, "I'LL still want to read the sequel."

I'm disappointed about having to wait a year before the sequel is available, but happy for you that your editor likes it and the editing will be minimal.

Good news about the minimal efforts. Fingers crossed maybe they'll bump it up.

Pissy blogger's had me locked out for eons.

*sniffle* A whole year...

Well. I'm gonna read Play Dead, and then I'm gonna re-read Pale Immortal, and in the meantime I shall be patient. :-)

After all, I waited six freakin' years for the Dark Tower IV. With all the waiting involved in publishing, I can do a year standing on my head. *G*

Still keeping my fingers crossed for a bump (Sandra, how are we gonna type with our fingers crossed??)

heather, thank you! i have to say i would probably put play dead as the second favorite of my books. probably partially because it's set in savannah. i'm glad you liked it!

jeff, thanks. :) yes it's a huge switch from last time!

sandra, i get the idea that January is pretty firm. so strange to think about having a book come out that time of year. I've never had a winter book. Ever!

s.w.: i don't think the second book can really stand on its own -- that's my big concern. hopefully stores will have both copies, which would be great.
maybe it will work out for the best. jeez. did i just say that? *checks forehead for fever*

I have a friend whose release date was bumped about 3 times and each time she found out by amazon. heh. It's crazy and I'm hoping PI 2 gets bumped back to 2007. Because word is PI 2 is freaking good. =D

But, but...I can't wait that long!! I am now going to lay on the floor, kick my feet and hold my breath...(yeah, I know, it never worked when I've done it before for anything either).

What? An editor who gets it? One who understands what it is you're trying to do and is okay with letting you do it? Why, that's unheard of!

Yes, sad that the date has been bumped, but then you could always post an excerpt or two as you lead up to the date for the benefit of your rabid fans.

kelly, as paranoid as i am i figured i was the only one not hearing of the dates changes. :D

dee, i'd like to see that tantrum anyway. just for my own entertainment.

stephen, i'm trying to be good over here!

i just typed a bunch of stuff, then deleted it. self-control is so unpleasant.
