internet woes

my internet is acting up. i think it might be the...what's the box with all the blinking lights? :D

anyway, it's doing all sorts of screwy things.

i'd planned to blog this morning about today's trip to st. cloud, mn, where i was giving a presentation at the st. cloud public library. but my internet was/is down. so off i went feeling as if i'd left something unfinished by not blogging about it!! and now it's over! a cold and rainy day, and a not-so-great turnout, but we had a nice time anyway. i can get a little road-crazy -- sorry mark! sorry janet!! nice library, nice town, nice people. crappy weather. we don't have that many days like this in minnesota, not the kind where it rains all day and my hair just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

Oh, I hate it when that happens to my hair.

But if there was nothing else to do, you could have jumped in mud puddles. It makes kids happy. :)

In the humidity, my hair starts doing a sensuous curvy dance.

Glad to hear the presentation went well!

I have the dork hair gene, and long ago gave in to inevitability. And, of course, we're about to start our eight to nine month period of cold and rainy. Unless not, because they say El NiƱo formed in the Pacific, which means we'll have a drought here. I hope the internet comes around. How can you collect shiny things with no internet?

Sorry for the crappy weather! So what kind of presentation did you give? Did you do a reading? =D

Oh and I totally hand-sold you at Longs the other day. haha. The lady and I started chatting and she had your book in her hand, but then she put it down like she wasn't sure and started complaining about paying 8 bucks for an author she never read. Then she picked up you and Sandra Brown and asked my opinion between the two of you. (AHA!) I told her you were one of my faves and if you like creepy and chilling, which she said yes, then she wouldn't be disappointed. She walked off with PI. It was pretty funny.

My hair does that too; the more humidity the curlier it gets. And unless I use something like Frizz-Ease or Zero-Frizz it gets, well... frizzy.

Now to combat the cool, rainy weather... comfort food all the way! :o) That's what we're doing down here... seafood gumbo and homemade biscuits anyone?

Too bad for the weather! My hair gets SUPER frizzy and wavy in that kind of weather. Susan, Frizz-Ease really works? Whenever I have a long period of bad hair i think of buying it but never do. If it works then I need to run out and get some!

Hopefully you can get your internet working Anne! Sounds like you had a nice time despite the weather/turn out.

Nice job Kelly at the hand selling! I love chances to push great authors!

Hello Tami,

Yep, the Frizz-Ease serum really works. You only need to use a little bit, rub it on the palms of your hands and then apply most of it to the ends of your hair just after you've washed it and then run your hands through the rest of your hair. What I like about it is that it doesn't make my hair all stiff like other things I've tried in the past; after it dries my hair is silky soft. The only thing about Frizz-Ease is that they recently added a light scent, so because of my allergies I ended up switching to Zero-Frizz which has hardly any scent.

Hmm, i'll have to try it. Thanks Susan!

this turned into a hair thread while i was away! :D
sandra, if it's raining in madison i'll remember that.

jason, LOL!

bill: dork hair is just one step away from hipster hair.

kelly: i got to watch the pale immortal video on a big screen. that was really cool! and thanks for the sale!!!

susan: yummm!!! that sounds perfect for a cold, rainy day! not the frizz-ease -- the seafood gumbo. :D

i used to use frizz ease all the time. not sure why i quit.... i think i switched to something else.

tami: i've figured out how to get back online. i have to unplug everything, plug the modem back in FIRST, wait for it to cycle, then plug in the wireless. the modem is ancient. i have to get a new one.

bekbek said...

Oh oops. Yeah. You have to um... unplug everything, wait a half a minute or so, then plug the modem back in first...

I should have said. Except you weren't online, so you wouldn't have seen it anyway! haha! So there! :P

Should be able to comment cross-version now, btw. I'll try it right now!

I'm glad you had a nice time at your library presentation despite the lousy weather.

What is wrong with big haid? I had big hair in the 80s.....of course that was two decades ago.

anne frasier said...

bekbek: things seem to be solved all the way around. for now!

jeff, thanks!

myster: i'm thinking this might be a good idea for crimespree. everybody submits an ancient big-hair photo. :D the big hair issue.

Oh no. No photos exist of me in the Eighties and I like it that way.

Glad you're back online. I was starting to go through withdrawals. ;-)

anne frasier said...

thanks, stephen!

come on. eighties photos are the best!

Big hair and 80's photos...how low have we fallen?!

emeraldcite said...

I spent my adolescent years during the grunge era. I had long hair and a garage band. I also skated and wore baggy jeans.

Although, as a child during the 80s I had that terrible, clone-ish bowl cut; however, I cannot claim responsibility for that...

Jerilyn Dufresne, author said...

You can thank Dorothy Hamill for that bowl cut.

angie: i'm thinking we need to have a big hair party. the biggest hair wins a case of schlitz. do they still make that???

emeraldcite: i'll bet you were cute!! i had a bowl haircut as an adult. sad, but true.

jer: LOL! yes! that's exactly where mine came from -- straight from dorothy. the only way that hair looked good was during a triple sumpin' sumpin'. or was it the death spiral?

angie said...

Well if they don't, we can always switch to Milwaukee's Beast, er, Best.

angie: LOL! that's another classic.
