Thanks for pointing this out Anne - I'm sure everyone's running over there, which is why they aren't commenting here. Good luck with the booksigning!

Thanks for pointing this one out. Fascinating discussion. Not sure how I feel about that no advance / greater royalties model in publishing. I can see how and why it's working with some of the epubs like Ellora's Cave and Liquid Silver, but then from what I've seen those houses also tend to print shorter works (<50,000 words) and do royalties more frequently.

Interesting idea, though.

thanks, sandra. i'll let you know how the signing goes!

stephen, i kinda got my butt kicked over there. :D

i thought the no advance thing was an interesting concept. i understand the need for an advance, but i have heard that huge advances might be a thing of the past. maybe some form of a lower advance, higher cut might be an idea. or not.

Anne, thanks for the link. Of course, I had to bookmark that blog, thanks for introducing me to it. BTW, I also just sent an equery to Tina. She sounds great, and I was thrilled to hear she loves paranormal.

BTW, aren't you on vacation?

anne frasier said...

:D yes, sort of on vacation! but i'm addicted to blogging, and i don't want to be found in a fetal position -- so i MUST come back here at least a little. and a little more.

and i agree -- tina does sound great!

That was a great interview. Thanks for posting that link. I forwarded it on to a writer who has been in a writing workshop with me for the past two winters. He has a manuscript he's shopping that would be considered a near future YA dystopia.

And this is also the first agent I've run across who reps picture books. I'm trying to get up the courage to send her a query. So thanks again, Anne.

susan, so glad you found it helpful. she seems like a great agent, with a broad range. some agents tend to focus on one genre, and that can be frustrating for writers.

Dammit, I missed this one. Ah well, I'll check out the link anyway.

Love the Buster Keaton pic/still from Go West, btw. I'm a huge Keaton fan!!

angie, it's still interesting reading even if you missed the event.
