announcing ThrillerFest hair-of-the-dog panel

ThrillerFest is just around the corner.

My panel is Sunday morning (July 2) at 9:00. If you've ever been to any kind of conference you know that this is what goes on that final morning:

1) sleeping
2) packing to get the hell out of there
3) getting the hell out of there
3) nursing a hangover

So I'm proposing a hair-of-the-dog panel. BYOOJ. I'll supply the vodka for your orange juice. It would be really nice if we could do without overhead lights. Maybe a few low-watt bulbs. Some soothing music, turned down low. Brian Eno, perhaps. I'm open to suggestions. I was also thinking people should shuffle in wearing pajamas, but i doubt anybody would really go for that.

what the panel is supposed to be about: Gender Issues in Thrillers

starring: Libby Fischer Hellmann,Natalie Collins,Anne Frasier, Alexa Hunt, J.A. Konrath

I'm trying to convince my boyfriend that we need to go to Thrillerfest. All the panels sound great! He's complaining that it's too expensive with admission and gas prices (we just bought a townhome so that's his excuse. Sheesh!) so we'll see. If we DO go, I'll be right there with ya Anne. Minute Maid no pulp OJ okay? ;)

anne frasier said...

yes, tami. bring no pulp! :D that would be great if you could make it!

Oh, this is a tough one. Your panel's going on the same time as Terrenoire's and Rhodes'. Damn the scheduling gods! How about you combine your panels? Gender Iissues on the Dark Side of Walking Thrillers?

I suspect I'll still have vodka in my system, so I'll probably just need the OJ.

Would love to be there, so I'll just drink a margarita instead.

Cheers (raising my Bloody Caesar)!
Good luck at the conference and I look forward to reading about it next week.

stephen, i'd love to go to their panel!

i'm not really sure what our panel is supposed to be about.

eve: i wonder what a margarita at 9:00 am would feel like??? hehe

nienke: cheers! bloody caesar. that's a new one for me. i'm guessing it's like a bloody mary. okay, just googled it! hot and spicy with clamato juice. :)

I'm guessing this is women doing men, men doing women for your topic?

I think the byooj idea is fantastic. Just don't let JA get a hole of the vodka.

anne frasier said...

sandra, it appears to be women doing women and men doing women. :D

shane, the other guy on the panel, had to drop because of the sunday time slot.

I don't know - but for you this Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. I'll drink one. After my week - I deserve it.

anne frasier said...

actually the conference isn't until the end of june, but after your week you do deserve a drink!

and prop those feet up on a box!

Why do I get the sense that this panel is going to morph into a Jerry Springer episode? :D

jason, we can always hope. ;)

Oh, I'll be there. Not only that, but I'll have my 25 gender related issues in thrillers questions typed up and ready to go for the Q & A period.
The breakdown looks something like this:

One question for Libby
One question for Natalie
One question for Alexa
One question for Joe
Eleven questions for Anne Frasier

yikes, jeff!!

LOL!!

Don't feel bad, Anne. My panel is up against Lee Child's. Two guesses which one they'll choose...

anne frasier said...

rob, lee child will definitely draw a crowd. but people go to panels for different reasons. you could still have a decent turnout.

My choices for panels really depend on which ones are more likely to have a fistfight break out. Promise me a bar brawl and I'm there. ;-)
