valley of the dolls

if you want to see photos of grown women playing with barbie dolls, check out kathleen eagle's site.

the pictures were taken at a recent meeting at her house.
my barbie had apparently gained weight since she last wore her outfit; it took me about ten minutes to get her boobies covered.

Barbie looks good in black.

The right make-up and hairdye and I'm sure you could start the Goth line.

Now that I think about it, why was there never a punk barbie? A harley barbie? There's got to be a harley barbie.

Anne Frasier looks pretty good in black, too, and sometime today I'm going to have to look up "titian" in the dictionary. Coming so close on the heals of "ten minutes to get her boobies covered" ... I'm sure my imagination is malfunctioning.

Not a Ken in the room, I noticed.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a Stripper Barbie somewhere, along with Trailer Park Barbie. Isn't the Internet great?

There was a cool exhibition at my alma mater one year that involved barbie.

My favorite: S&M Barbie.

So cool.

emeraldcite: LOL! I'll have to add boobies to my list of good blogging words. it will go right after whore.

i'm reminded of this great barbie moment:

Todd Haynes
"Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story"
Film, 1987, 43 min.

With Barbie dolls as the principal actors, Superstar portrays the life of Karen Carpenter and her battle with anorexia. Haynes never secured the rights to the Carpenters' music he used in the movie, and Richard Carpenter filed an injunction that kept Superstar from public release. Even without Carpenter's court order, the film would probably have been stopped by the notoriously litigious Mattel, the makers of Barbie.

jeff, i loved it -- but barbie is not very bendy.

sandra, i have the feeling there are all kinds of barbies we don't know about. underground barbies. :O

mark, titian is a new word for me. i'm not even sure how you pronounce it!
you're right. not a ken in the room. of any kind. although i did spot kathleen's husband scrambling to get the hell out of there. heh.
